Introduction
Adding fractions involves combining parts of a whole. To add fractions, they must have a common denominator. If they do not, find the least common denominator (LCD) and convert the fractions before adding.
Example:
1/4 + 1/2
= 1/4 + 2/4 (since 1/2 = 2/4)
= (1 + 2)/4
= 3/4
