Reading Passage

That's my last Duchess painted on the wall, / Looking as if she were alive. I call / That piece a wonder, now: Fra Pandolfa's hands / Worked busily a day, and there she stands. / Will 't please you sit and look at her? I said 'Fra Pandolfa' by design: for never read / Strangers like you that pictured countenance, / The depth and passion of its earnest glance, / But to myself they turned (since none puts by / The curtain I have drawn for you, but I) / And seemed as they would ask if they could tell / What sullen joy the painter's art conceals, / Or, whether dimple of the cheek was meant / To set my heart aflame; or, if indeed / Some anger, some frustration, or some pain, / The portrait's gaze reveals, from the depths of her eye, / A silent shout at the world and its unkindness. / Notice how her expression seems to capture not just beauty, but a hint of nature's raw unpredictability—the way storms gather suddenly or how trees sway fiercely in wind. This portrait, like nature, holds a deep, unspoken story.
