Untitled Worksheet
Grade Year 9
A
Extract from 'Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey'
Five years have past; five summers, with the length
Of five long winters! and again I hear
These waters, rolling from their mountain-springs
With a sweet inland hum—
Once again I see
These hedge-rows, little lines of sportive wood
Dispos’d; and, by the softened light, doth make
The crowdie fields look green. And, as I gain
The sense of sight, the memory of the past
Returns; I see the landscape once again,
And feel the joy that nature’s beauty brings.
My mind is filled with tranquil thoughts,
The silence of the woods, the rush of streams,
The music of the birds, and the peaceful air
That soothes my spirit. In this quiet place,
I find a sanctuary where my soul is free,
Reminding me of childhood’s innocence,
And of my constant bond with nature’s grace."
