Prospero’s Monologue
PROSPERO: Now my charms are all o’erthrown, / And what strength I have’s mine own, / Which is most faint. Now 'tis true / I must be here confined by you / Or sent to Naples. Lend me your hands; / If I had my way, / I would re-create this island into a dystopia, / A realm where power is fluid and rebellion is free; / But I am bound to this exile, / Cursed to wield my magic in shadows. / Yet I hold hope, and in my heart / I still dream of reshaping this universe, / Of bending nature to my will, / As I once did with magic, / Now with hope of new order, / A future where chaos reigns no more, / A future built from ruins, but also from renewal.
