PROSPERO: Now my charms are all o’erthrown, / And what strength I have’s mine own, / Which is most faint: now, ’tis true, / I must be here confined by you, / Or sent to Naples. ... / But this rough magic / I here abjure; and, when I have requir’d / Some heavenly power to work against me, / I’ll break my staff, / Banish the vowels from my tongue, / And make this island all my own.

ARIEL: All hail, great master! grave sir, hail! / I come to answer thy best pleasure; / Be’t to fly, to swim, to dive into the fire, / To ride on the curled clouds, to thy strong bidding / And now I’ll bring thee to the present. / However, thou wilt, / I’ll set thee free from this spell.
PROSPERO: O, I will rend an oak / And peg thee there upon the stage, / Nor be to me a man of many words.
[Exit Ariel]
PROSPERO: The rarer action is / In virtue than in vengeance. / Tell me, / For I am all the subject to your service.
SEBASTIAN: Sir, in this dumb show I am prevented / By your highness’ own accord. / Now, my brave friends, / Let’s all agree to serve the king in this matter.
[Approaching Gonzalo]
GONZALO: I’th’ name of something holy, sir, / Why, now, are you sad?
PROSPERO: I have suffered / With those that I saw suffer: / A brave vessel, / Who had, no doubt, some noble creature in her, / Dashed all to pieces.
[Calm returns, and Prospero resumes his speech]
PROSPERO: And like a man in a dream, / I try to speak, but my voice is gone; / As if I had been shut away in a prison, / And kept there by some unkind keeper.
