Power and Control in The Tempest

PROSPERO: Now my charms are all o'erthrown, And what strength I have's mine own, Which is most faint. Now 'tis true I must be here confined by you, Or sent to Naples. Please you, That I have very little of my own, But that which you call my own. And so, I am content to bear Your logs and your wilderness, till my death. But, oh, the heavens! It is a heavy burden, To be a prince and a sorcerer, both. I am subject to the moon, and the stars, And all the laws of nature, which I cannot control. I am a master of my own fate, Yet I am a servant of the universe. I have cast my spell, and now I must pay the price. The storm is over, and the ship is wrecked, But I am still here, watching, waiting. And when the time is right, I will regain my power, And take my vengeance on those who wronged me. For now, I will sit and ponder, The depths of my soul, and the limits of my might. I am a master of the storm, But the storm is also a master of me. I have created chaos, And chaos will consume me, if I am not careful. But I will not surrender. I will fight, and I will prevail, With the strength of my will and the power of my mind.
