Reading Passage

April 15th Today, I finally finished reading "The Lord of the Rings." I’ve heard so much about this story from friends and teachers, but I never realized just how incredible it would be until I actually read it myself. It’s a tale filled with adventure, friendship, bravery, and the constant struggle between good and evil. I can’t stop thinking about the journey that Frodo, Sam, Gandalf, Aragorn, and all the other characters went through. The story begins in the peaceful land of the Shire, where hobbits live simple lives. Frodo Baggins is just an ordinary hobbit, but everything changes when he inherits a mysterious ring from his Uncle Bilbo. It’s not just any ring—it's the One Ring, created by the dark lord Sauron to control all of Middle-earth. The ring has a powerful, corrupting influence, and many seek to claim it for themselves. Gandalf, the wise wizard, warns Frodo that he must destroy the ring before Sauron finds it and uses its power to conquer everything. Frodo’s journey is dangerous and long. He is joined by his loyal friends Samwise Gamgee, Merry, and Pippin. They set out on a quest to reach Mount Doom, the only place where the ring can be destroyed. Along the way, they face many threats: dark creatures like orcs and trolls, treacherous terrain, and the ever-present danger of Sauron’s spies. Despite all these obstacles, Frodo’s courage and determination never waver. Meanwhile, other characters are fighting their own battles. Aragorn, a ranger and heir to the throne of Gondor, struggles with doubts about his identity but ultimately steps forward to lead. Legolas, the elf with incredible eyesight and archery skills, and Gimli, the stout dwarf, become unlikely friends, demonstrating that differences can be overcome through trust and shared purpose. Gandalf, with his wisdom and magic, guides and encourages everyone, even when things seem darkest. One of the most compelling parts of the story is the concept of heroism—not just physical strength, but also inner strength and sacrifice. Frodo’s burden is heavy, and the ring’s influence tries to turn him to evil, but he persists. Sam, his steadfast companion, proves that loyalty and hope can carry people through the worst times. Their friendship is central to the story, showing that even in the face of overwhelming evil, kindness and perseverance matter. The story builds to a climax at Mount Doom, where Frodo, exhausted and tempted by the ring’s power, almost fails. But Gollum, a creature obsessed with the ring, intervenes, and in the struggle, the ring is finally destroyed. Sauron’s power is broken, and Middle-earth begins to heal. The victorious heroes return home, but they are forever changed by their experiences. Reading "The Lord of the Rings" has made me think about the importance of courage, friendship, and hope. Even in the darkest times, there is always a chance for light to shine through. I feel inspired to face my own challenges with the same bravery and loyalty that these characters showed. It’s a story that will stay with me for a long time, reminding me that even ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
