Source Analysis: The Huguenots

Source A: A Huguenot Refugee’s Account

"We fled our homeland in fear of persecution. The Catholic authorities sought to silence our beliefs and confiscate our property. Our community was driven underground, and many of us faced hardship and danger. Despite the risks, we maintained our faith and sought safety in neighboring countries. Our plight was often misunderstood by those who saw us as troublemakers, rather than persecuted believers." Provenance: Jean Dupont, 1598, personal letter written during the French Wars of Religion.
